About this place
The Former Hirosaki City Library is a historic building in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. Built in 1906, it was erected by a local philanthropist and donated to the city. In 1930 the library moved to another building, and this one was sold off to private hands, but in 1989 the city bought it back, and it is preserved and open to the public as a facility of the City Local Literature Museum. In 1993 it was designated a Prefectural Treasure of Aomori.
