About this place
Sakura City Museum of Art is a municipal art museum in Shinmachi, Sakura, Chiba Prefecture. It is located in the center of the former castle town. It opened on November 16, 1994 (Heisei 6). From its first year, it held a group exhibition of contemporary artists called "Chiba Art Now." Its main collected artists are mainly those connected with Sakura and Boso, such as Asai Chu, Araya Naonosuke, Katori Hotsuma, Tsuda Nobuo, Hori Ryujo and Tsudori Hideki. It is an art museum with two basement floors and four floors above ground.
