About this place
Urayasu City Local History Museum is a hands-on museum in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, about the nature, history and culture of Urayasu. It opened on April 1, 2001 (Heisei 13) to preserve the history of Urayasu, which prospered as a fishing town from the Meiji era to the middle of the Showa era. Preparation for construction was begun by the Urayasu Board of Education in 1991 (Heisei 3), and in June 1998 (Heisei 10) a committee for considering its use in school education was established.
