About this place
Bansuiso is a French-style mansion standing in the center of Matsuyama, the capital of Ehime Prefecture. It is located at the southern foot of Matsuyama Castle hill. It is designated an Important Cultural Property. Before the abolition of the domains, Matsuyama was the territory of the Matsuyama Domain, said to be 150,000 koku. Bansuiso is the villa built in 1922 by Hisamatsu Sadakoto, a descendant of the lords' main family of the Matsuyama Domain who held the rank of count.
