About this place
Noguchi Hideyo Memorial Museum is a memorial museum in Inawashiro, Yama District, Fukushima Prefecture, for the bacteriologist Noguchi Hideyo, a native of the town. It displays his birthplace as well as Hideyo's belongings and materials. It is the first registered museum in Fukushima Prefecture. It is operated by the Noguchi Hideyo Memorial Society, a public interest incorporated foundation. The director is Yako Yasuo (grandson of Yako Yasuhei, Hideyo's childhood friend and close friend). It opened in 1939 (Showa 14).
