About this place
Oyama Chusaku (born May 5, 1922; died February 19, 2009) was a Nihonga painter and president of the Nitten. He was from Nihonmatsu, Fukushima Prefecture. His wife was Kazuko. His eldest son is Oyama Shosaku, an executive of Nippon Television Football Club (Tokyo Verdy), and his daughter is the actress Isshiki Saiko. In 1943, because of the student draft, he graduated early from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts). He became a Special Pilot Cadet Officer, 3rd class, in Saitama Prefecture, and met the end of the war in an air unit in Taiwan. In 1946, he was demobilized, and that year his work "Teacher O" was accepted for the first time at the 2nd Nitten.
