About this place
Isesaki Kasuri is a type of silk fabric produced in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, and the surrounding area. It refers in particular to fabric woven by the method specified by the Isesaki Textile Association when it was designated a national traditional craft in 1975. Isesaki Kasuri is a name based on the classification by blurred patterns made with pre-dyed thread; by weaving classification it is called Isesaki Meisen. Textile production is thriving in the Isesaki area, and fabrics produced in this area are collectively called Isesaki-ori.
