What people have long eaten in this place. We collect the dishes themselves, not restaurants.
A noodle dish in which wide noodles, made from kneaded wheat flour without salt, are put into a large pot without being boiled first and simmered together with vegetables such as carrot, long green onion, daikon, shiitake mushrooms and taro. The name is said to come from winding the dough around a rolling pin and cutting into it with a knife.

Steamed buns without filling, made by fermenting wheat flour and glutinous rice with doburoku (unrefined sake), are put on bamboo skewers, brushed with a sweet miso sauce and grilled. In northern areas such as Numata City and Tone District, sweet ones with filling are also made.

Konjac is cut into rectangles or triangles, put on skewers, simmered in plenty of water and sake, then wiped dry and finished with a coating of miso sauce. It is a way of eating unique to Gunma, a production area for konjac potatoes.

A hot pot dish combining Joshu wagyu beef with Shimonita green onion, shiitake mushrooms, garland chrysanthemum, tofu and Chinese cabbage. In the Kanto region all the ingredients are usually simmered in a seasoned broth called warishita, but there is also the Kansai style of searing the meat first, and versions using Joshu shamo chicken.

Freshly fried pork cutlet is dipped in sauce and placed on top of rice in a bowl. An organization in Kiryu City defines it as using fillet, but loin and thigh are also used depending on the shop or household, and the seasoning of the sauce differs as well.

A general name for the udon made throughout Gunma, a wheat-producing area. They include Himokawa, the wide noodles of Kiryu City; Mizusawa udon, served on a draining tray so its sheen and chewiness can be enjoyed; and the udon of Tatebayashi, eaten kamatama style.

Burdock cut into thick julienne strips is stir-fried, then pork, carrot, shiitake and konjac are added and stir-fried. It is braised with dashi, sugar, mirin and sake and finally seasoned with soy sauce. It is ordinary kinpira, usually made with vegetables alone, with pork added.

A miso-based soup that always contains three ingredients: konjac, shiitake mushrooms and green onion. Burdock, taro, carrot, tofu and pork are also added; the ingredients that take longest to cook are stir-fried first, then simmered in dashi and seasoned with miso and soy sauce.

Tofu is rolled in a bamboo mat, boiled and seasoned with soy sauce and sugar. It is cut into thin bite-sized pieces to eat and has a texture similar to kamaboko fish cake. It has also been used as an ingredient in simmered dishes.

A steamed bun in which sweet bean paste is wrapped in a dough of wheat flour mixed with baking soda, baking powder and sugar. There are local varieties such as the buckwheat manju of Kanra Town and the garlic chive manju of Meiwa Town, and there are also savory ones filled with takana mustard greens or okara soy pulp.

Rice cooked with barley, beans, carrot, burdock, mushrooms, chicken and fried tofu added, or with these mixed into the rice after it is cooked. The ingredients are cut small and are seasoned with soy sauce or simmered in dashi before being combined.

Behind the main hall stands a great rock called Misugata-iwa, and that rock is the deity itself. The building is no more than a frame for worshipping it. The approach runs about 700 metres along the gorge.

The largest natural flow of hot spring water in Japan. Wooden troughs cool the water so the mineral flowers can be gathered.
