About this place
Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi (abbreviated GMAT) is an art museum on the shore of Tatara Marsh in Hinatamachi, Tatebayashi, Gunma Prefecture. The museum's theme is "Nature and Humanity." Its collection is mostly modern and contemporary art centered on sculpture and installations. It opened in Tatebayashi on October 26, 2001, as the second art museum in the prefecture after the Museum of Modern Art, Gunma in Takasaki.
