About this place
Ashiya City Museum of Art & History is a complex in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture, combining the facilities of an art museum and a history museum. It opened in 1991 (Heisei 3). It is located in Isecho in the south of Ashiya, with the Ashiya City Library and the Ashiya City Tanizaki Jun'ichiro Memorial Museum adjoining. Inside, it exhibits and holds many works by artists connected with Ashiya, such as Koide Narashige, Sugai Kumi, Yoshihara Jiro and the Gutai Art Association, and photographers of the Ashiya Camera Club including Nakayama Iwata.
