About this place
Himeji City Museum of Art is an art museum in Himeji Park in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. It opened in 1983 with the aim of promoting art and culture in Himeji. Its collection policy is set as (1) outstanding works of museums connected with the locality and art works on the local history and customs, (2) modern and contemporary Japanese art, (3) modern and contemporary art from overseas such as Belgium. Belgium is specifically named in the third because Himeji has a sister-city relationship with Charleroi, Belgium.
