About this place
Nishinomiya City Otani Memorial Art Museum is an art museum in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. It opened in 1972 using as exhibition rooms the collection, centered on French and Japanese modern paintings, and the residence donated by Otani Takejiro, businessman and founder of Showa Denkyoku (younger brother of Otani Yonetaro, and a different person from Otani Takejiro, founder of Shochiku). A new wing and atelier were completed in 1977, and in 1991 large-scale extension and renovation produced the present modern museum.
