About this place
Higashiyama Higashi is the name of a district in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. It is an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, known as the Higashi Chaya District. Measuring about 130 m north-south and about 180 m east-west, about 1.8 ha, about two thirds of the 140 buildings in the preservation district are traditional buildings, and many townhouses in the teahouse style built from the founding of the teahouse district to the early Meiji era remain. It is one of Kanazawa's main tourist spots.
