About this place
Ohi-yaki is a side kiln of Raku ware in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, with 350 years of history and tradition. In the 6th year of Kanbun (1666) in the early Edo period, when Maeda Tsunanori, the 5th lord of the Kaga Domain (Kaga Hyakumangoku), invited Senso (Urasenke's 4th head, Sen Soshitsu) from Kyoto as tea utensil magistrate, the potter Haji Chozaemon, who had studied under Ichinyu, the 4th head of the Raku family, and was his foremost disciple, accompanied him.
