About this place
Kaga zogan is the collective name for traditional metalwork inlay techniques handed down in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, and the name of the crafts that make full use of them. Its system of techniques is based on a lineage that descends from the Kaga domain's craft office (Osaikusho). As technical features, it is based on line inlay and has a variety of inlay techniques such as flat inlay, high-relief inlay and armour inlay, as well as decorative techniques such as colour painting. It is also characterised by a sturdy inlaying method that keeps the inlaid patterns from easily falling out.
