About this place
The Morioka Sansa Odori is a festival held in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, every year from 1 to 4 August. It is one of the earliest summer festivals in the Tohoku region, held in early August. It used to last three days, but in recent years it has lasted four days because of the growing number of participating groups. In the past few years, with four days, a "Great Circle Dance" in which almost all participating groups set out together takes place on the fourth day. The festival ends with a free-participation circle dance for everyone.
