About this place
Nakatsu Banshoen is a Japanese garden in Nakatsucho, Marugame, Kagawa Prefecture. Also called Banshoen, with the Marugame Museum of Art attached inside the garden. The pond-strolling daimyo garden of 5 hectares was made in 1688 (5th year of Jokyo) on the order of Kyogoku Takatoyo, lord of the Marugame Domain, facing the Nakatsu beach near the castle town of Marugame Castle. The garden's name is said to derive from the phrase "shinra bansho" (all things in the universe).
