About this place
Izanagi-ryu is a unique Onmyodo and folk belief handed down in Monobe Village (now Kami, Kochi Prefecture), Tosa Province. Izanagi-ryu is a folk belief with elements of Onmyodo that developed uniquely in Tosa Province. According to tradition, it is based on 24 kinds of magical arts transmitted by the Great King Izanagi of Tenjiku (India). There are no ritual implements, and at each ritual standard cut paper (gohei) of washi suited to it is used. Though a folk belief, the ritual prayers and incantations are systematized and handed down in standard form.
