About this place
Tatsukushi is a scenic spot near Cape Ashizuri in western Kochi Prefecture. Also called the Tatsukushi Coast, it is in Tosashimizu. In the narrow sense it refers only to Tatsukushi, and in the broad sense to the whole area including the nearby Minokoshi Coast. Both belong to the Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. The origin of the name is unknown, and various theories have been put forward, including that it was named for a scene like a dragon on a skewer, that it comes from the Ainu language, and that it is a corruption of Tatsufushi, the "dragon lying" of Mount Garyu.
