About this place
The Horaguchi House is a private house built in the Edo period at Nakakoji, Omagari, Natori, Miyagi Prefecture. It is designated a National Important Cultural Property. The time of construction is thought to be the Horeki era (1751-1763), from the existence of a prayer tablet of the Horeki era and comparison with other houses in the former Sendai domain. It stands in the rice-paddy area of the Natori Plain, in the centre of the Sennan Plain (Sendai Plain in the narrow sense), and the site of about 1,500 tsubo is surrounded by a moat and an igune (windbreak forest).
