About this place
The Sendai Tanabata, or Sendai Tanabata Festival, is an annual event and festival held in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, in connection with Tanabata, one of the five seasonal festivals (gosekku). Together with the Aomori Nebuta Festival in Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, and the Akita Kanto Festival in Akita, Akita Prefecture, it is counted as one of the Three Great Festivals of Tohoku. It is held for three days, from 6 to 8 August, with 7 August, the month-delayed date of 7 July, as the main day.
