About this place
The Police Museum is a museum in Teraike, Tomemachi, Tome, Miyagi Prefecture. The building was originally built as a police station. When the Tome branch of Kanari Police Station was promoted to Tome Police Station in 1888 (Meiji 21), construction of a new office building began, and was completed the following year. The designer was Yamazoe Kisaburo, who also designed the former Tome Higher Elementary School building (now the Education Museum). In 1968 (Showa 43), when a new office building was completed, it ended its role as a police building and was used by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which moved out in 1986 (Showa 61).
