About this place
The Nasu Family Residence is a historic building in Shiiba Village, Higashiusuki District, Miyazaki Prefecture. An Important Cultural Property of Japan. Also called Tsurutomi Yashiki. It is estimated to have been built in the Bunsei era (1818-1829) in the late Edo period. It is a horizontally long building with a veranda on the front of the house, along which the Buddhist room, guest room, bedroom and living room are arranged in a single row, a form representative of this region called a side-by-side-type private house. The ridge length is 25.09 m and the beam span is 8.64 m.
