Overview
A plain farmhouse outside and a Gothic church within - the memory of persecution built into the form.
About this place
The Former Gorin Church is a Christian (Catholic) church (cathedral) on Hisakajima in Goto, Nagasaki Prefecture. It was built in 1881 (Meiji 14) as the church of the Catholic Hamawaki Church, and when a new church was built in 1931 (Showa 6), the Gorin village took it over, and it was dismantled, carried by boat, and restored by relocation. For about 50 years afterwards it was a place of faith for the Gorin district and Warabikojima.
