It began with melting down bottles the US military threw away; the bubbles the impurities caused were kept as the point.
About this place
Ryukyu glass is a hot-work glass craft, such as blown glass, produced mainly on the main island of Okinawa, Okinawa Prefecture. It is sometimes written "Okinawa glass" and with other characters. The "Ryukyu glass" described in this entry began after the Pacific War, when, because of resource shortages, empty bottles of cola, beer, Perrier and the like discarded at US military bases in Okinawa were melted and reused. Recently, dishwasher-safe pieces have been increasing and gaining popularity.
