About this place
Kagamiyama is a mountain in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. Its elevation is 283.56 meters (the elevation of the third-class triangulation point). At its foot is Kagami Shrine (Matsuura Byogu). It is a mountain associated with Empress Jingu and Matsuura Sayohime. Another name: Hirefuriyama. The summit is flat, so from a distance it looks like a trapezoid-shaped mountain, and along with Niji no Matsubara it is one of the symbols of Karatsu. From the foot to the summit there are three walking paths in addition to the automobile road. In recent years volunteers also developed the Rainbow Stairs for climbing, with 1,278 steps.
