About this place
Mifuneyama Rakuen is a pond-strolling garden in Takeo, Saga Prefecture, and a famous spot for azaleas and autumn leaves. It is located at 4100 Takeo, Takeocho, Takeo. On February 22, 2010 (Heisei 22), the whole garden was registered as a National Registered Monument (place of scenic beauty category) as the "Former Villa Garden of the Nabeshima Clan, Lords of Takeo (Mifuneyama Rakuen)." It is at the southwest foot of Mount Mifune, 210 meters high, the symbol of Takeo. Mount Mifune was named because Empress Jingu moored her "royal ship" there when she returned from the conquest of Silla.
