About this place
The former Takatori Family Residence is a traditional building in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. It was built in 1904 as his home by Takatori Koreyoshi, known as the "Coal Mining King of Hizen," and was later extended through the early Showa period to its present scale. The site is about 2,300 tsubo, faces Karatsu Bay, and the building consists of two parts, the living-room wing and the great hall wing.
