About this place
Nakazato Onsuichi is an irrigation pond in Tomitacho, Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture. On March 25, 2010 (Heisei 22), it was selected as one of the 100 Selected Irrigation Ponds by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Its water source is Kohama Pond, a spring pond of Mount Fuji inside Rakujuen, in front of Mishima Station, designated a National Natural Monument and Place of Scenic Beauty, and Terao Genbe, a local powerful figure of the Muromachi period, dug the Genbe River (described below) to irrigate 11 villages in Mishima. Nakazato Onsuichi was built in 1953 (Showa 28).
