About this place
Kurayoshi kasuri is kasuri that has been woven in Kurayoshi, Tottori Prefecture, since the end of the Edo period. Fabric woven with kasuri thread (thread dyed in separate colours in advance) to show patterns is called "kasuri." In Kurayoshi, e-gasuri woven with pictorial patterns and various structural weaves (soshiki-ori) such as more advanced twill and float weave also came to be woven. Such fabric is called "fuutsu-ori" and gained a reputation as a phantom fabric.
