Overview
Citrus planted to give jobless samurai a livelihood now defines how the whole town looks.
About this place
Natsumikan (Citrus natsudaidai) is a type of Japanese citrus. It is also called Natsudaidai or Natsukan. It is said to have arisen from a hybrid of the pomelo (Buntan) line, and some theories say it is a hybrid of pomelo x ponkan x an unknown species. The standard Japanese plant name is Natsumikan; because the ripened fruit passes the winter and is ready to eat in the following summer, it has the alternative names Natsudaidai and Natsukan.
