About this place
The UBE Biennale (Ube Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition) is an international competition and exhibition of outdoor sculpture held regularly in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Its former names were "Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition" and "UBE Biennale." It is Japan's oldest sculpture exhibition and the longest-running outdoor sculpture exhibition in the world. It is organised by Ube, the Ube Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition Executive Committee and the Mainichi Shimbun, with UBE as sponsor.
