About this place
Yamaguchi Xavier Memorial Church is a church of the Catholic Diocese of Hiroshima in Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is also called the Xavier Memorial Church, but as a facility name, the official form is the unvoiced "Sabieru," not "Zabieru." It was built in 1952 (Showa 27) to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Francis Xavier's visit to Japan (missionary activity in Yamaguchi).
