About this place
Nishijima Washi is Japanese paper made in the Nishijima district (35 degrees 29 minutes 9 seconds N, 138 degrees 26 minutes 53 seconds E) of Minobu, Minamikoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture. The Nishijima district, where Nishijima Washi is handed down, is in the southwest of the prefecture. The area south of the Kofu Basin in the southwest of the prefecture is called the Kawachi region, and the Nishijima district is its northern part. The Nishijima district borders the Fuji River, which flows north-south through the Kawachi region, and lies on its right bank. It is surrounded by mountains.
