About this place

Kanesa Co., Ltd. is a miso maker with its head office in Namioka, Aomori, Aomori Prefecture. It is a functional subsidiary of Marukome Co., Ltd. In a TV commercial for its own products made in 1979, featuring the singer Awaya Noriko, it became famous for the line "Taishita tamageta" (Aomori dialect meaning "I was very surprised"), which later became a buzzword of the time. On 1 October 2019 it transferred its business to Kanesa Co., Ltd. (the new company, renamed from Kanesa Seizo Co., Ltd. the same day), established by a company split.
