Hand tools made by Chiba's blacksmiths. Farm tools and carpenter's tools, such as sickles and hoes, are forged. A nationally designated traditional craft.
About this place
Chiba Kosogu is the general name for cutlery and hand tools made by blacksmiths in Chiba Prefecture using traditional techniques. Main products are sickles, hoes, kitchen knives and Western-style scissors. It has a history of about 200 years since the establishment of the production area and about 130 years since the start of making Western-style craftsmen's tools.
