About this place
Asakawa Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (English name: ASAKAWA SHIPBUILDING Co.,Ltd.) is a shipbuilding company with its head office in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. Founded in 1947 in Oshinden, Imabari. The company name comes from the Asakawa River, which flows through the northern part of Imabari. In 1961 it moved to its present Koura district under Imabari's port plan. It mainly builds chemical tankers with stainless steel tanks. It is a member of the Japan Middle and Small Sized Shipbuilders' Association.
