A shoe factory in Kurume. In a place that started out making tabi, it does sewing and the vulcanization of rubber soles.
About this place
Asahi Shoes Co., Ltd. is a Japanese shoemaker. Its head office is in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is also the origin of the rubber and tire maker Bridgestone. Along with Moonstar (formerly Gekkosha Kasei) and Achilles, it is known as a rubber shoe maker. It is also one of the few companies in Japan able to make soles by the VP method (direct vulcanization pressure bonding). In Kurume, together with Moonstar and Bridgestone, it is called one of the "three rubber companies."
