About this place
Isesaki kasuri is a type of silk fabric made in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, and the surrounding area. It refers in particular to fabric woven by the production method specified in 1975 by the Isesaki Textile Association as a nationally designated traditional craft. The name Isesaki kasuri is a classification by its gradated pattern from pre-dyed threads; by weave classification it is called Isesaki meisen. Textile making is thriving in the Isesaki area, and the fabrics produced here are collectively called Isesaki-ori.
