About this place
Bingo Kasuri is a kasuri woven from Shinichi to Ashida in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture. Together with Iyo Kasuri and Kurume Kasuri, it is regarded as one of Japan's three great kasuri. It is mainly cotton, and silk and wool were also produced at one time. At present (as of March 2011) only cotton is produced. Originally, the lord of Fukuyama Castle, Katsunari Mizuno, encouraged cotton cultivation along the whole Fukuyama coast.
