About this place
Miyake Honten Co., Ltd. is a sake brewer in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture. It brews Senpuku, known from the commercial "Senpuku ippai ikaga desu," and is also called Senpuku Jozomoto Co., Ltd. Miyake Honten. 1856 (Ansei 3) - Founded. The shop name Kawachiya was taken from the place name. The founder was Miyake Seibei, and each successive brewery head has taken the name Seibei. The Miyake family were originally retainers of the Hiroshima domain. At first it made mirin, shochu and shirozake. 1902 (Meiji 22) - Begins brewing seishu (refined sake).
