About this place
Kiku-Masamune Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a Japanese sake company with its head office in Higashinada Ward, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. It has its base in Mikage-go, one of the Nada Gogo, and is one of the major players. Also known by the nickname "Kikumasa." Founded long ago in 1659 (2nd year of Manji), it has led the sake industry as an industry major. It is one of the long-established makers that reached its 350th anniversary in 2009. It is handed down that in ancient times, when sake made with water drawn from Sawanoi was presented to Emperor Go-Daigo, he accepted it with pleasure (kano), and so the family was granted the surname Kano.
