About this place
Koiwai Farm is an integrated farm straddling Shizukuishi, Iwate District, and Takizawa in Iwate Prefecture. With a total area of about 3,000 hectares, it is the largest privately owned integrated ranch in Japan. About 2,000 hectares are forest and about 630 hectares are farmland, and 40 hectares in the central part are open to the public as "Makiba-en". The owner is Koiwai Noboku Co., Ltd. (Koiwai Agriculture and Livestock), headquartered in Marunouchi, Chiyoda, Tokyo. It was established in 1891 (Meiji 24).
