About this place
Kinoya Ishinomaki Suisan Co., Ltd. is a seafood processing maker with its head office in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture. Its representative product is processed whale meat; next to the head office there was a large fish oil tank about 10 meters high modeled on a can of whale yamato-ni, but the factory was completely destroyed in the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011 (Heisei 23). The tsunami from this earthquake carried the large tank about 500 meters away to the prefectural road, and it was dismantled on June 30 of the following year, 2012 (Heisei 24).
