About this place
Unkai Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company with its head office in Miyazaki, Miyazaki Prefecture, producing alcoholic beverages mainly centered on shochu. It is known as the company that first made buckwheat shochu in the world. Its 2016 (Heisei 28) sales were 16.42 billion yen, third among all Japanese shochu makers. 1967 (Showa 42) - Established as Gokase Shuzo Limited Company in Gokase, Miyazaki Prefecture. 1973 (Showa 48) - Succeeded in developing buckwheat shochu for the first time in the world.
