About this place
Yanagita Shuzo General Partnership Company is a shochu brewery in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture. Though in Miyakonojo, where Kirishima Shuzo reigns, it continues making shochu on a small scale with the family. Its representative brands include Koma, made by reduced-pressure distillation. There is also a brand called Akakage, which attempts a distillation method between atmospheric-pressure and reduced-pressure distillation. Yanagita yeast was developed by Yanagita Toji (professor emeritus at Tokyo University of Agriculture), a relative of this company. This company also built Japan's first official website of a sake brewer.
