About this place
Shoogen Co., Ltd. is a castella maker with its head office in Nagasaki, Nagasaki Prefecture. Founded in 1681 (Tenna 1). Its shop name was Yamaguchiya, but at the end of the Edo period it gained the favor of Nakajima Hirotari and changed its name to Shoogen. After incorporation, there was a time when its trade name was Yamaguchi Shoogen Ltd., combining the new and old shop names.
