About this place
Yomitanzan-yaki Kitagama is a kiln of 'Tsuboya-yaki: yachimun' in Yachimun no Sato, Zakimi, Yomitan Village, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture. It was founded in 1992 in Yachimun no Sato, Zakimi, Yomitan Village, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture. It is a kiln jointly led by four master potters, Yoneji Matsuda, Kyoji Matsuda, Seikyo Miyagi and Masamori Yonahara, firing a 13-chamber climbing kiln five times a year. The four each have an independent workshop, and make pottery with young apprentices gathered from all over Japan, centered on the masters. November 1990: Construction of Kitagama began
