About this place
Zuisen Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a distillery that has made and sold awamori in Shuri, Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, since 1887. It was founded in Sakiyama-cho, one of the Shuri Sanka (three districts in Shuri) where sake brewing was permitted in the Ryukyu Kingdom period. It took its name from Zuisen, the spring that wells up beside Shuri Castle's Zuisen Gate. The label bears the words 'Sakumoto no Sake.' The managing Sakumoto family is related to Sakimoto Shuzo, also in Shuri. In the awamori appraisal held by the Okinawa Regional Taxation Bureau, announced every November, it has won the Okinawa Governor's Award 24 times.
