About this place
Chuko Shuzo Co., Ltd. (English: Chuko-Shuzo Company Limited) is a sake (awamori) brewing company headquartered in Tomigusuku, Okinawa Prefecture. Its representative brands are 'Yume Kokai' and 'Chuko.' It has many fans in southern mainland Okinawa, centered on Tomigusuku and Itoman. It owns kilns for making sake jars and makes its own jars. It is known for 'Chuko Nanban Arayaki Kame,' an unglazed jar for aging awamori. It is a regular distillery winning the Governor's Award at the awamori competition. In October Heisei 18 (2006), it received the Brewing Society of Japan Technology Award.
